An afternoon of celebrations!

On a gloriously sunny Friday afternoon, we raised a glass to celebrate the successful move to our new premises and to 35 years of grounds maintenance. It was a pleasure to bring the whole team together to enjoy such a special occasion.

We’ve moved!!

We have great pleasure in announcing our relocation to our new premises in Welwyn Garden City. We are incredibly excited to be in our new home and the start of another chapter in the Mark Walker Grounds Maintenance history.

A right Royal visit!

Some images of our successful planting project at the new School of Medicine building, Anglia Ruskin University which was recently opened by HRH The Duke of Kent.

Our fantastic grounds maintenance team at ARU will continue to nurture this area with the rest of the site and we look forward to seeing how the area develops.

Out with the old and in with the new

We’ve had a busy couple of months updating and replacing two key pieces of machinery here at Mark Walker (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd. Our trusty tractor was the first to go. The brand new replacement will continue with sports field renovations/maintenance and boundary hedge maintenance works which is in great demand during the summer months. It will also be working hard in the winter months with gritting/snow ploughing and hedge reduction works.

Today we welcomed the arrival of our shiny new Telehandler. This fantastic little machine is tasked with many jobs in and around our yard. It’s a priority to keep our fleet of vehicles and machines current and in excellent working order to meet the demands of our busy schedules.

Hedgehogs at Hightown

Another sunny day and another Residents Engagement event, this time held at Hightown’s Elmshall Place. Our Grass Hedgehogs went down a treat with the younger residents and once they had enjoyed our tasty cakes, the children turned their hands to a spot of gardening. One enthusiastic child exclaimed “this is the first time I’ve ever had a go at planting. It’s great fun!”

Cupcakes and catch up

Ian Kazer-Roberts, one of our contacts managers, recently visited the residents of Hightown’s Jasmine Court laden with cupcakes! It was a gloriously sunny afternoon spent with the residents in the communal garden. Upon his return to the office Ian commented “it was great to hear such positive feedback regarding the grounds that our guys tend to and meet many of the residents. We even got some planting done!” Ian and his colleagues will be visiting other Hightown sites in the forthcoming weeks.

Ready…steady…bake!

On Monday 20th May, the team at MWGM whipped up enthusiasm for a bake sale in aid of Stand Up to Cancer. Everyone enjoyed delicious home made treats of brownies, lemon drizzle cake, chocolate flap jacks, millionaires shortbread and many more. We were delighted that we baked our way to £163.27!

NHS Contract Win

After recently completing a competitive tendering exercise, MWGM have been successful in winning a contract with Essex Partnership University Trust (EPUT). Mark Walker Grounds Maintenance has worked for the trust since 2014 building a strong relationship with site staff and members of management. We came to the end of a 5 year contract and managed to be successful with winning 2/3 lots for the new contract which starts in March 2019. The new contract is 3 x larger, and has allowed us to establish 2 more depots.
